Abstract
Dissipative (cavity) solitons in optical systems have been the subject of intensive research during the last years. They result from the modulational instability that triggers a spontaneous transition from homogeneous steady states to self-organized or ordered structures. Recently, due to the inclusion of the transverse refractive index modulation into models of intracavity nonlinear optics, a new type of localized structures has been found. They arise as a result of Bragg reflection on the refractive index profile. The existence of such type of cavity solitons was predicted in bistable lasers, discrete sets of coupled lasers and resonators [1]. More recently, using the coupled-mode approach Bragg dissipative cavity solitons have been found in a thin photonic crystal film with Kerr nonlinearity excited under the conditions of the so-called Fano resonance and in a passive cavity filled with two-level medium [3].
