Coherent coupling in 2D arrays of silver nanoparticles

Abstract

2D of closely spaced Ag nanoparticles undergo coherent quadrupole coupling when irradiated with visible light. The coupling leads to unique optical properties that result from an extremely sharp plasmon mode delocalized among several nanoparticles.
