Abstract
Over the last few years, a lot of work has been clone on coherently prepared media showing interesting, nonclassic optical properties. For example, lasing without inversion,1 enhanced index of refraction,2 and electromagnetically induced transparency3 all are related to this topic. Recently, strongly dispersive, transparent media have gained much attention. For example, positive-dispersive media can reduce the linewidth of optical resonators by several orders of magnitude when placed inside the cavities,4 whereas negative-dispersive media can show the opposite effect.
