Abstract
Recently, self-trapping of a quasi-monochromatic partially spatially incoherent light beam1 and of a white light beam, which is both spectrally and spatially incoherent,2 has been demonstrated experimentally, using the non-linearity associated with photorefractive screening solitons.3−5 Here we believe we Present the first semianalytic modal theory de-scribing self-trapping of spatially incoherent light beams. We find the conditions that allow self-trapping in the form of an “existence range” and derive the statistical properties of the self-trapped incoherent beams.6
