Abstract
Mutually pumped phase-conjugate mirror (MPPCM), in which two mutually incoherent laser beams interact to generate their respective phase-conjugate reflections, has been studied extensively [1]. Typically a MPPCM requires a high-gain photorefractive medium. Sometime ago we proposed a MPPCM in a bidirectional ring oscillator geometry, which can efficiently operate in photorefractive crystals with low gain [2]. While stationary characteristics of that system were investigated in detail, the problem of its temporal stability has not been fully addressed. Some of our earlier studies indicated possible unstable behaviour.
