Abstract
Stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) can be used for realizing phase conjugating mirrors in pulsed laser systems. Via the SBS phase conjugation phase distortions of solid state laser crystals can be compensated. This allows large tuning ranges of the average output power with very simple and reliable setups. With single rod Nd:YALO amplifiers average output powers of 100 Watts[1] and 140 Watts[2] were obtained. Besides the application in double pass amplifier arrangements phase conjugating mirrors can also be used in oscillators as one of the resonator mirrors[3].
