Quantum-nondemolition measurement of the photon number with a fiber ring: enhancement of the correlation through multiple soliton collisions

Abstract

Quantum-nondemolition (QND) measurements are measurements that do not disturb the quantum distribution of the variable being measured. In the literature, QND measurement of the photon number using wavelength-multiplexed soliton collisions has been demonstrated [1]. Recently we have proposed a new scheme for performing QND measurement of the photon number using polarization-multiplexed soliton collisions in a fiber ring interferometer [2].
