Abstract
Control of the topology and scale of transverse interactions leads to a new class of spatiotemporal light beam instabilities in media with cubic nonlinearity. Depending on the parameter values and initial/ boundary conditions, dissipative structure, rotating waves, spiral waves, and optical turbulence can be observed.
