Third harmonic generation in argon crystals and films

Abstract

Nonlinear frequency upconversion in gases has become a common method for generating coherent tunable radiation in the VUV and XUV.1 Compared to a gaseous medium a solid state material provides a higher number density of atoms and does not require differential pumping even in the windowless spectral region.
