Abstract

In the past, energy relaxation of excited vibrational states in simple liquids was investigated by anti-Stokes Raman probe scattering after stimulated Raman or infrared excitation.1 These techniques suffer from the poor spectral resolution (Δɣ ≥ 100 cm-1) of the detection setup, which is related to the smallness of the Raman scattering cross section.
