Abstract
In the last two decades remarkable progress has been achieved in generating ultrashort optical pulses. Interest has been driven by the need to develop measurement techniques in the previously unexplored femtosecond time regime. In this discussion I will describe how optical pulses as short as 6 femtoseconds have been generated and used as a spectroscopic probe.
