Abstract

Recently, new nonlinear optical crystals, such as urea¹ and beta-barium borate² (β-BaB₂O₄), have revived an interest in widely-tunable, visible optical parametric devices based on these crystals. This paper reports on the first demonstration of optical parametric oscillation in a β-BaB₂O₄ crystal pumped by an ultraviolet excimer laser.
