Abstract
Nonlinear optical properties of liquid crystals have been substantially documented in the past few years.1,2 In particular, their application in nonlinear planar waveguides and fiber-fiber coupling have been attempted with some successes.3,4 In this paper, we will present some interesting nonlinear fiber-fiber transmission coupling with an intervening well aligned nematic liquid crystal film. In particular, we have observed optical limiting, switching and pulsing effects.
