Abstract
Recently stimulated Raman scattering has been considered for a method of the excimer laser pulse compression(1), (2). A 1kJ 10ns class Raman compression system (ASHURA)(3) is now being developed in order to generate high power, high-spatial- quality laser pulse for laser fusion and laser matter interaction studies. In the present studies, Raman experiments are carried out in order to accumulate fundamental data for the design of the pulse compression system. At the increased pump power level, the gain of the Stokes can be accurately evaluated by using well defined Stokes and pump pulse of cm-class beam size.
