Abstract
We report a new method for the determination of the electro-optic (EO) constants. Samples used form a Fabry-Perot (FP) cavity of about 1 μm thickness. The method does not require high voltage supply or high extinction ratio crossed polarizers. By this method we can determine not only real part of the electrooptic constant but also imaginary part. The latter could not be determined by the ordinary method. A thin polycarbonate (PC) film doped with 4-diethylamino-4'-nitrostilbene (DEANS) molecules. DEANS is a diethyl derivative of amino-nitrostilbene (ANS) and is also expected to have a large optical nonlinearity. The cavity mirrors of the FP cavity are thin aluminium films, which are also used as electrodes to apply an electric field on the cavity medium.
