Abstract

Semiconductor clusters play an important role in our effort to understand how molecules evolve into bulk semiconductors. They also represent an interesting class of nonlinear optical material. We prepared and studied semiconductor composities in thin polymer films and zeolites, where the semiconductors can have sizes ranging from a few angstroms to hundreds of angstroms. We discuss the quantum size effect, their defect structures and nonlinear optical properties.
