Abstract
The time-resolved reflectivity and transmission of semiconductor surfaces excited by picosecond laser pulses provide direct information on the evolution of the photogenerated electron-hole plasma and heating and melting of the lattice. By proper selection of the probing wavelength, the complex index of refraction is more sensitive to the lattice temperature or to the carrier density.1
