Abstract

Picosecond pulse generation technology in semiconductor laser diodes is important for highspeed optical communication systems. For this purpose, Q-switching systems1-3 are of great interest because no external mirror is needed in contrast to mode-locked systems, and lower modulation power is required compared to gain switching systems.
