Quantum Statistics of Degenerate Four-Wave Mixing

Abstract

Four-wave mixing has been proposed as a likely candidate to produce squeezed states of light.1 Present experimental proposals favor four-wave mixing in an atomic medium. For this reason we have investigated the effect of the quantization of the atomic medium on the squeezing in the output field.
