Abstract
This paper describes a new construction of a recombination laser in which the laser action has been obtained by vaporizing the metal target material in the focal region of a reflecting axicon into which pump-pulsed CO2-laser radiation is directed. The experimental’ arrangement for producing a plasma recombination laser is essentially a resonator formed by two dielectric mirrors placed along the focal direction of the axicon and the resulting laser oscillation in the near-IR and visible spectrum studied in the presence of a neutral.
