Abstract

The new target is a double-Shell target with a cavity into which laser beams are injected. The original concept of this target is that the outer shell plays a role of a tamper, which leads to high hydrodynamic efficiency.1 This compression scheme was tested using a double-foil target.2 Efficient spherical compression of this target was recently demonstrated, and it showed good implosion uniformity.3 We also investigated the advantages of this target using the two-dimensional (2-D) code HISHO4,5; they are high laser absorption efficiency, high hydrodynamic efficiency, and good uniformity.
