Abstract
Pulses as short as 16 fsec have been generated by optical-fiber compression. For high- power applications, degenerate four-wave mixing has been used to produce 37-fsec pulses. The latter method has also been ex- tended to femtosecond studies of polarization dephasing phenomena.
