Reflector-less Grating-Coupler with a -0.9 dB Efficiency Realized in 260-nm Silicon-On-Insulator Platform

Abstract

We report the design and experimental characterization of a SOI grating coupler which shows, for the first time to our knowledge, a coupling loss below 1 dB (0.89 dB) without the use of any back-reflector.
