Brillouin and Raman Scattering in Silicon and Siliconnitride Photonic Integrated Circuits

Abstract

The large refractive index contrast in silicon and siliconnitride nanophotonic waveguides allows for strong interaction between photons and phonons, between light and vibration or sound. This strong interaction has many different flavours and can be exploited in many different ways. Some of the recent advances in this field will be reviewed.
