Ultra-high-rate modulation of high-Q optical cavities

Abstract

By modulating the output coupler of a microcavity, the traditional limits in resonant modulators and laser modulation can be circumvented. High-Q microcavity modulators and lasers can be ultra- high-speed, low-power, and compact.
