One Sub-wavelength Mode Volumes in Silicon Optical Nanocavities

Abstract

We demonstrate a reduction of effective mode volume to the order of 0.01 (λ/2n)3 using dielectric discontinuities that enhance the local electric field in Silicon optical nanocavities.
