Abstract

Liquid crystals (LCs), a special state of matter, with properties resembling both liquids and crystals has proven to be a commercially viable technology in the flat panel displays arena. For years, LCs have attracted the attention of optical switch designers, hoping to capture and harness their powerful electro-optic properties for routing and controlling light.
