Cross-connect switches based on SOA arrays

Abstract

Optical cross-connect nodes exploiting SOA technology have been validated in field trials. System performance including cascadability issues for transparent networks are illustrated while latest results for cost-effective realization of large-scale space switches based on SOA gate arrays are highlighted.
