Abstract

Second harmonic generation(SHG) in semiconductors such as GaAs and AlGaAs has been demonstrated to realize compact short wavelength light sources.1·2·3·4·5·6·7 Most of the devices are surface emitters, which radiate SH wave normal to the surface with horizontally propagating fundamental waves.2·34·6·7 A stack of GaAs and AlGaAs with a period of half a wavelength of the second harmonic has been incorporated to give quasi phase matched(QPM) SHG.5·6·7
