Retardation Effects to the Rescue of Particle Plasmon based Nano-Cavities

Abstract

Ultra-small modal volume of ~10−4·λ3 with relatively enhanced Q-factors is obtained when a particle-plasmon is modified to accumulate retardation effects, although the field propagation length is only few tens of nanometer.
