Drawback of Using Only Wavefront Deviation to Define Irregularity Tolerance

Abstract

Wavefront deviation does not fully represent irregularity effects. It is shown how reflective telescopes with similar wavefront deviation provide very different optical performance leading to possible non-conformities not predicted by tolerance analyses.
