Geodesic Lens: Review and New Designs for Illumination Engineering

Abstract

Prior art of geodesic lens design is reviewed. New Kohler illuminators made of Luneburg and Rinehart geodesic lenses are presented. Illumination applications are introduced, and their performance modelled under manufacturing constraints and with surface scattering.
