EXAFS detection of laser shock heating

Abstract

Using EXAFS to characterize metals shocked to -Mbar pressures by a laser has been studied. High-contrast modulations were obtained using a laser-imploded spherical target as the source. EXAFS visibility as function of shock pressure was calculated.
