Optical Design with Orthogonal Freeform Representatives

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

High precision freeform surfaces offer benefits in compactness and performance but simultaneously pose a challenge for fabrication. Understanding the properties of orthogonal polynomials helps to design freeform optical systems and to analyze their manufacturability.
