Empirical Model for Estimating Light Pipe Sidewall Scattering Loss

Abstract

Using a geometric optics approximation for simulations and RMS slope for surface characterization, an empirical model is demonstrated that can then be used to estimate sidewall scattering loss for a range of waveguide parameters.
