Hybrid phononic/photonic crystal mirrors for optomechanics

Abstract

We demonstrate a hybrid phononic/photonic crystal mirror for optomechanics. A localized mechanical mode is created by a defect in a phononic crystal, which in turn supports a photonic crystal designed for high reflectivity.
