Terahertz pulses generated by classical or relativistic laser-gas interaction: Sources and Applications

Abstract

We review the mechanisms underlying terahertz emission in laser-gas interaction, such as photocurrents at moderate intensities and transition radiation in relativistic plasmas. These open new perspectives in ultrabroadband molecular spectroscopy.
