Overriding the Boundary Conditions in a Planar Waveguide Via Hybrid Space-Time Modes

Abstract

We show that propagation-invariant ‘space-time’ wave packets can be used to tailor the guided-mode characteristics in a thin film waveguide, including mode size, group index, and group velocity dispersion, independently of the boundary conditions.
