Elegant Laguerre-Gaussian beams as structured wavefields: light on self-healing

Abstract

We demonstrate that elegant Laguerre-Gaussian beams belong to the families of structured wavefields. As such, they also have the self-healing property that is explained on physical grounds as traveling waves that superposed conform these beams.
