Ultracompact Field-Effect Plasmonic Modulator

Abstract

We present an ultracompact electro-absorption (EA) plasmonic modulator based on the field effect inside a metal-insulator-conductive oxide (MIC) structure. The modulator has an effective length of only 800nm, and can potentially work at high speed.
