Modeling Photoreceptor Mosaic Imaging as Backscattering of Light from Multilayered Discs

Abstract

Imaging of backscattering from bi- and multilayered structures representative of the photoreceptor mosaic is simulated for both flood illumination and beam scanning. Results suggest that scattering may better match in-vivo photoreceptor imaging than exclusive waveguiding.
