Dynamic control on light polarization through electromagnetically induced transparency in a rare-earth ion doped crystal

Abstract

We showed that the electromagnetically induced transparency in Pr3+:Y2SiO5 crystals can induce significant polarization changes of light, which may be employed to compensate for the polarization change resulting from birefringence.
