PT-Symmetry and on-Chip Optical Nonreciprocity in Active-Passive-Coupled Microtoroids

Abstract

We experimentally realized parity-time symmetry in active-passive-coupled microtoroid resonators and further demonstrated variable, ultrasensitive optical isolation in such a compound system through introducing gain-saturation nonlinearity to break time-reversal symmetry.
