Large mode-volume, large-beta photonic crystal laser-cavity

Abstract

Using a tight-binding approach, we design a cavity consisting of coupled L2-defects in a triangular lattice photonic crystal slab. The resulting large-beta, large-volume mode is suitable for vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser applications.
