Metamaterial Van Hove Singularity

Abstract

We introduce the photonic analogue of electronic Van Hove singularities (VHS) in hyperbolic metamaterials. The VHS is related to slow-light modes of the metamaterial, and has applications in molecular sensing, quantum optics and thermal engineering.
