Resonant Radiation Induced by Wave-breaking

Abstract

We show that pulses undergoing wave-breaking (shock formation) in fibers in the normal dispersion regime can emit resonant (Cherenkov) radiation similarly to solitons. We predict the radiated frequencies and reveal a diversity of possible scenarios.
