Abstract

Both pupil diameter1 and ocular higher order aberrations change with age. e.g.2-7 In Figure 1, the pupil diameter of Winn et al** is re-plotted as a function of age in years and log luminance. At high luminance levels pupil diameter decreases from just over 3mm to just less than 3mm as a function of age. In contrast, at low luminance levels the pupil diameter the changes considerably as a function of age from 7 mm for young eyes to just less than 5 mm for older eyes.
