Abstract

We present results from the first ever successful, on-telescope test of a miniature photonic spectrograph for astronomy, by attaining a spectrum from a stellar source. Furthermore, we successfully obtain multiple spectra simultaneously from a single device, with multiple fibre inputs, demonstrating the feasibility of using the integrated photonic spectrograph for multi-object spectroscopy for the first time.
