Feedback Enhanced Sensitivity in Cavity Optomechanics: Surpassing the Parametric Instability Barrier

Abstract

Parametric instability places an upper limit on the useful optical power in optomechanical sensors. We surpass this limit by using feedback stabilization, enabling motion transduction sensitivity at the level of 5×10-19 m/Hz1/2.
