Breaking the Two-fold Degeneracy in Eigen Modes of a Triangular-Core Hollow Optical Fiber

Abstract

A new micro-structured optical fiber is proposed and fabricated, which has a triangular core with a central air hole providing a unique 3-fold degeneracy of eigen-modes. The degeneracy evolution in the spectral domain was investigated.
